Well, one, actually: just tell me what to do.

I have about three or four days to blow the first week in may, and then another three or four the second. If you know of anything near virginia that is totally worth going to/doing/seeing/, then let me know (And by near I mean within a 17 hour drive or so)

So far all I've thoguht of is taking a short hike around the Appalachian, but that's just 'cuz I can't think of jack.

Any bright ideas?

Well, it depends entirely on what interests you!

I'm a history buff, so visiting Monticello, the University of Virginia, Jamestowne, Mt. Vernon, etc would be on my list. Of course, I could also spend three or four days in the Smithsonian alone.

If you like being outdoors, the blue-ridge mountains are also worth exploring. My grandparents lived there, and I have fond memories of skyline drive & going hunting up in some of the more remote parts. That was a long time ago, though, I don't know if it's all been built over now.
